Frank’s strongest desire was to get closer to God and on Thursday, May 8, he did just that.
Frank was from Nutley, NJ where he was a barber for 51 years. Not only did he provide a great haircut, he also taught kids about science, gardening, and how to be a good person. He was also a counselor of sorts, listening to his customers/friends and sharing his wisdom. He had a knack for knowing exactly what to say at the right time.
Frank met the love of his life, Eleanor, when she came into his shop for a haircut. After marrying in 1994, they moved to upstate NY in 1999. There, he continued to serve others, often cooking for them with food he grew in his garden. He had a passion for holistic health which led to him getting a degree in the field.
He served in the US Army in Vietnam for a year and a day. One of the habits he developed during that time that he continued for the rest of his life was to say Psalm 23 every night.
Frank will always be remembered for his boundless energy and ability to make people feel loved. He often said he wanted his life to emanate Christ.
Frank leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Eleanor, whom he adored, and his beloved son Francis (Frankie) Gaccione III, his grandson Rob, his sister Phyllis, and other relatives and countless friends. Keep a lookout for a signal from Frank as he was determined to stay in touch with us.
There will be a celebration of Frank’s life at the home he shared with Eleanor in Pittsfield, NY on Saturday, August 16 (the day after what would have been Frank’s 79th birthday) from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Another celebration of life will occur in NJ. Frank’s son will provide details once the date and location are determined.
Contributions in Frank’s honor and memory can be made to Children International or any organization that supports the marginalized.
Celebrate Frank - plant a tree, love an animal, do a kind deed for someone.
