Joseph M. Strauss

Joseph M. Strauss, 68, of Norwich, fought cancer with everything he had and lost his battle on Friday August, 26, 2022. Joseph was born in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Wendell and Inabelle Strauss. He was also predeceased by his brother, Max Strauss; and his sister, Joanne Plaskon. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Deborah; his children, Joseph Strauss, and Krista and Derek Webb; his grandchildren, Justine Strauss, Jeremy Strauss, Kaitlyn Webb, and Kendall Webb; his sisters, Jean Kendrick, Judith and Bob Sheridan, and Deedee and Bob Schurig; his brother in law, Patrick and Nadia Dolan; many nieces and nephews as well as his faithful canine companions, Sam and Cooper.

Joseph spent his career as a supervisor at Unison Industries in Norwich, retiring after 25 years of service. He was also a driver for Auto Zone, which enabled him to travel to many area garages and repair shops where he touched many people’s lives with his unconventional sense of humor. Joseph served his community on the Norwich Fire Department for many years beginning on March 1, 1978, and most of all, he loved his family above everything else in his life.

Calling hours for Joseph will take place on Thursday, September 1st, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
