She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley G. and Mary M. (Baker) Peckham. After WWII, Judi and her parents relocated to Smyrna, NY where her father had been raised. Judi attended the Smyrna Elementary School and graduated from the Sherburne High School in 1960. She was very active in school including being a member of the high school marching band as a drummer. A female drummer in 1950’s America was truly a novel idea!
After high school, Judi began work at Norwich Pharmaceuticals, known at the time for “Norwich Aspirin”. In 1972, after a visit with family in southern California, Judi fell in love with the area and decided to move to Hollywood. She lived there for 53 years. Her first job in California was at Max Factor Cosmetics in Hollywood and she eventually went on to work as a Medical Transcriptionist for Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. in Los Angeles.
Judi loved dressing up for Halloween with her co-worker and best friend, Teresa. While she was still living in Chenango County, she played the part of Lucy in “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at Norwich Community Theater, a memory her cousin Donald holds dear. Judi was an avid reader, just like her father. She kept a book (or two) handy everywhere she went. She also derived great joy from her cats and kittens.
Judi leaves behind many cousins, including Donald Baker, of Smyrna who thought of her more as a sister; her close friends, Bill Proctor, Jeff Eckert, and Teresa Loeffler. She will be greatly missed by all.
A funeral service for Judi will take place at 1:00pm on January 28, 2026, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Carolee Coye officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on January 28, from 11:00am until the time of service. Judi will be laid to rest in the spring at West Hill Cemetery in Sherburne.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Judi’s memory may be made to your favorite charity.
