

Born February 18, 1948 in Norwich, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald L. and Doris (Baker) Stanton. She was a graduate of Sherburne Central School, the class of 1966. On April 29, 1975 she married Gene A. Baker in Plymouth NY. Lorraine lived her entire life on the family farmstead in North Norwich. She worked on the family farm and market, Stanton’s Farm Market for many of her early years. Upon graduating high school, she worked at NBT Bank in Norwich, Grand Union in Norwich, tended bar at the Riverside, and then settled into her 36 year long career as the switchboard operator for Chenango County.
Lorraine was a kind and fun-loving woman who loved a good joke. She had a very generous, open and welcoming personality and will be greatly missed. She was a member of the former Republican Women’s club in Chenango County. She also served as North Norwich Town Court Clerk for 23 years. She currently was serving as Deputy Town Clerk and Deputy Court Clerk for the Town of North Norwich. She was also currently serving on the board of the North Norwich Cemetery Association.
Lorraine loved the Christmas holiday season and decorating for such holidays. She enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their events showing their accomplishments when she could. She was an avid coupon shopper and could always find a great deal. She enjoyed going to local thrift stores as well.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Gene of 46 years; her children; Robert H. (Zoe) Baker of Plymouth, Lisa (Todd) Palmer of Sherburne, and Audra (Clint) Mikalunas of North Norwich. Her 10 grandchildren: Anthony Palmer, Ashley Palmer, Cole Mikalunas, Olivia Mikalunas, Stanton Baker, Bryce Baker, Reagan Mikalunas, Braedon Baker, Finn Baker and Adelynn Baker. She is also survived by her 2 sisters: Priscilla Barker, Earlville, and Loretta (John) Smith, North Norwich; and her brother: Donald E. (Sue) Stanton of Chuckey TN; in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and many in-laws.
She is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Doris, her sister Gloria and her husband Mel, and her brother-in-law Ted. She will also be dearly missed by her 2 loving fur friends, Sammie and Bronx.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 North Broad St Norwich NY, on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 10am- 1pm, followed by a funeral service at 1pm. Masks are required in the funeral home. Interment will be in the North Norwich Cemetery after the service.
