

Nona was born on February 10, 1933 in McDonough, NY the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Ingham) Mead. She spent the early years of her life in McDonough before moving to the Norwich area where she attended the Norwich High School graduating with the class of 1951. On June 9, 1951 in St Bartholomew’s Catholic Church she married John Caravello who passed away September 5, 1988.
She and her husband then moved to Virginia where he was stationed in the military. Upon his discharge in 1954 they returned to Norwich to make their home. Over the years Nona and John had made their homes in NY, NJ, VA, TX and CA finally settleing in NJ. From 1988 to 2003 she owned and operated, along with the help of her son, the Acravel Partitions in Bricktown, NJ.
Nona is survived by her children; Frances (Edward) Rothwell of South Plymouth, Catherine Caravello of Norwich and John Caravello, Jr of Brick, NJ, her grandchildren Nona Shapley, Barbara Bedford and Gary Allen Shapley along with 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christion Burial for Nona will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 10:30 am from St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9-10:30am.
A Celebration of Nona’s Life will be held in the spring of 2022.
