Bob was born on September 15, 1945 in Norwich the son of Walter and Rose (Ward) Cummings. He grew up in the Norwich area and attended the Guilford school. In January of 1963 Bob entered the United States Army serving his country until his honorable discharge in January of 1966. Returning home to Norwich Bob began his working career. A hard worker all of his life providing the best he could for his family. Over the years he and his family made their home in Norwich, Florida and Mass. In 1982 they returned to Norwich where he continued to make his home.
Bob was, without question, always there for his family. They were first on his list. He had been a carpenter for a period of time and was a truck driver for anyone who would let him sit behind the wheel. His most recent job was with Alyne Milk Haulers. His passion in life was dirt racing which both of his son were part of as drivers. If they were racing he was there to offer his support and advice. He enjoyed being in town and chatting with friends or anyone in general. He also loved the outdoors rather it was walking the trails enjoying the wildlife or fishing.
On January 28, 1968 he married Hazel Smith.
Bob was predeceased by his oldest son Robert Tyler Cummings in 1982. He is survived by his wife Hazel of Norwich, sons Steven D. Cummings and partner Kimberly Miller of Guilford, James D.
