
Born in the Town of Walton in Sept. of 1921, Rose was the daughter of Raymond and Blanche Chamberlain Wilcox. Rose was a young child when her family moved to South New Berlin, where she attended school and graduated in New Berlin High School's Class of 1939. She worked for a period of time for Montgomery Ward, but her main employment was with the United States Postal Service. She was a postal window clerk in South New Berlin for many years, and also worked as a substitute in the New Berlin and Edmeston Post Offices. Rose was active in the Home Bureau from the mid-1940's through the mid-1950's, and had been a 4-H leader from the mid-1940's through the mid-1960's. She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of South New Berlin. In 1945, Rose married Stanley Leland Sanders.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Lucy Mae Sanders of South New Berlin; and her nieces and nephews and their spouses: Frederick and Gertrude Brooker of Norwich, Janice and Clyde Beach of So. Plymouth, Edward and Mona Truesdell of Newburgh, Ronald and Joann Livingston of Woodbridge, VA, Royce and Susan Livingston of Otego, Randy and Marie Livingston of Unadilla, and Winifred and Dale Sortman of Greene. Several cousins and great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Stanley, in 1975; by her sisters: Thelma Brooker, Shirley Truesdell, Pearl Livingston, and Mary Whitmore; and her half-brother, Ivan Forsythe.
Private graveside services for Rose will be held from the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin. The Very Rev. Charles Taylor will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
