Sylvia E. Schrumpf

Sylvia was born in Sharon, Conn. on April 6, 1933 the daughter of Ebenezer and Ruby (Postel) Benson and she moved to the Catskill Mt. area in 1942. She attended and graduated from the Stanford Central school. In 1948 she and her husband Howard along with his parents purchased the Austin Homestead on Austin Road in North Harpersfield and moved in on May first of that year. Sylvia had played piano and organ for the First Summit Baptist Church of Charlotteville, NY.

Sylvia is survived by her son George (Julie) Schrumpf of Rochester, MN, and her daughter Susan J. (Richard) Palmer of Norwich, 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and her brother Jan Benson of Worcester, NY.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Howard Schrumpf on June 12, 2021 and her brothers David, Donald and Ernest.

A Memorial service for Sylvia will be held on Monday, December13, at 11:00 am from the Holmesville Baptist Church. Pastor Grant Smith will officiate.

In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the Holmesville Baptist Church, 3024 State Highway 8, South New York, 13843. Please make checks payable to the Holmesville Baptist Church. These contributions will be used for the Missions.
