

Terry was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on April 28, 1940 the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Mesang) Bresina.
He grew up in Eau Claire where he attended and graduated from the local school. Terry furthered his education by attending the University of Wisconsin where he graduated with a degree in journalism. He soon entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded, from July of 1964 until his honorable discharge in July of 1966. Terry was extremely proud of his military service and was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Seeking employment in journalism, Terry eventually found his way to Norwich where he gained employment with the Evening Sun. Following the retirement of Hugh Rice, Terry became the Veterans Service Counselor/Coordinator for Chenango County a position he held for 18 years.
Terry was always involved in the City of Norwich Political scene. He was a former City Alderman, a former member of the City Council and a former member of the water commission. He was Past Commander of American Legion Post 189, a member of VFW Post 2782 where he had held the offices of Junior Vice, Trustee and was a VFW Service Officer all for several years. He was also a member of the East Pharsalia Church where he was a Trustee and had been a member of the Farm Bureau.
It goes without saying that Terry was truly a servant to the people of the area where he lived and was extremely proud of his military service.
Terry is survived by his wife Joan (Houghtaling) Garito Bresina of Norwich who he married on November 14, 2009, his children Teresa Bresina of MN, Angie Bresina of Wis., Gina Bresina of Wis. And Paul Loomis of VA and several grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings Debbie (Bob Kozal) Bresina of Minn., Susan Bresina of WI, brother-in-law Jim Houghtaling of WV., brother-in-law Jeff Houghtaling of Norwich sister-in-law Marilyn Braendly of Norwich, brother-in-law Jerry Sayles of East Pharsalia along with many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Terry was predeceased by his brother Michael Bresina, brother-in-law Arnold Braendly, sister in- law June Houghtaling and sister-in-law Lora Sayles.
A service for Terry will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 11:00 am from the East Pharsalia Baptist Church.The Rev. Jason Sayles will officiate. Burial with full military rites will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, at 10 am from the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wed., Nov. 1, from 3-5 pm.
