Warren Emerson Law was born in Norwich, New York, on September 3, 1938. He passed away peacefully at his home in Saint Augustine, Florida, on November 14, 2025, at the age of 87 years. Warren suffered from stage 4 pancreatic cancer, diagnosed in June of 2024.
As a child, Warren and his family lived on Barnes Road (named for his maternal grandparents, Asa Barnes and Myra Tremper Barnes) on West Hill just outside Norwich proper. He spent much of his life living on Gold street in Norwich where he began his grade school education at the intersection of Rexford Street and Silver Street. This building is now a county museum. He also attended school at East Main Street School. He graduated in 1956 from Norwich High School on West Main Street, where he wrestled on the varsity team and played drums in the high school band.
In 1956, Warren enlisted in the United States Army with high school friends Carl Guinn and David Robinson. Warren spent his two-year enlistment primarily at Fort Riley, Kansas, as a mechanic. Warren completed his time in service to his country alongside his good friend Fred Kuhn of Tigard, Oregon.
He married Lillian Lorraine Marshall, also of Norwich, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Norwich, New York, on August 15, 1959.
Warren (drummer) formed a band with Ronnie Palmer (lead guitar) of Norwich and Dean Hartland (stand-up bass). The band hosted a weekly television show on a local Binghamton, New York TV station.
Warren’s journey through this life always focused on family. He built a successful career in manufacturing, beginning as a welder with General Laboratories Associates of Norwich, New York, now known as Unison of GE. He ascended into upper management through 34 years of dedication. Though he prospered through the years, his career always centered on supporting his family.
Warren loved outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and hiking. With the help of his mother, Mildred, he and his wife, Lorraine, purchased a small cabin on Bradley Brook Reservoir located in West Eaton, New York. The family spent every possible moment of summer beginning in 1969 at “Camp”. Through his example, he encouraged his family to join him in his appreciation and respect for nature.
Warren was a long-time parishioner and patron of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church on Pleasant Street. He was a longtime member and had many friends at the Elks club on East Main Street in Norwich.
In 2001, Warren and Lorraine purchased a home in Saint Augustine, FL. Like typical snowbirds, they began the gradual migration to a permanent resident status over many years. Warren loved the beach. He loved the turtles, the birds, the trees, and the plants of Florida. He planted many fruit trees, grapes, and various other plants at his home.
Warren is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Lillian Lorraine Law, and his six children: Timothy A., Susan D. (Pittsley), Judith L. (MacIntosh), John W., Melissa C. (Chadwick), and Jeanette M. (Maynard).
He is survived by 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Sheila Law (Strobel).
Warren is predeceased by his Mother, Mildred Evelyn Barnes Law, his father, Emerson William “Jack” Law, and his older brother Alvin Lee Law.
Announcement of the funeral date will be posted in the spring.
