

Anne McCall, formerly of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Friday morning after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was the beloved wife of the late William McCall of Norwood. She was the loving mother of nine children and is survived by : Anne Marie Kennedy and her husband Stephen of Norton, MA; William McCall and his wife Colleen of Marshfield. MA; Jean Regan of Chanhassen, MN; James McCall of Attleboro, MA; Alan McCall and his wife Cynthia of Hull, MA; David McCall and his wife Manika of Plymouth, MN; Catherine Sellstone of Jacksonville, FL; Christine Gilio and her husband Paul of Attleboro, MA; and the late Ian McCall of Norwood, MA.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Eric Haltom and his wife Debbie of Norfolk, MA; Skye McCall Harris and her husband T.J. of Franklin, TN; Andrew and Olivia McCall of Attleboro, MA; Brian Sullivan and his wife Kelly of Hull, MA; Monica McCall of San Francisco, CA; Britany Phillips of Mansfield, MA; Tessa McCall of Plymouth, MN; Rachel Sellstone of Bethesda, MD, and Jonathan Gilio of Taunton, MA. She also had six great-grandchildren and was the beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews here and in Scotland.
Born Anne Connolly in Glasgow, Scotland on February 22, 1929, to Mary and John Connolly, she married William McCall in July of 1949 and the two immigrated to Norwood in October 1952 along with their two-year old daughter Anne Marie. She lived briefly in Hull, West Springfield, Providence, RI and St. Louis, MO, but was primarily a Norwood resident for most of the next sixty years.
Mrs. McCall was also a long-time worker in the area, originally employed by Plimpton Press in Norwood, and also had several years an employee at Masoneilan Corp., The Village Inn, Café Venice, and Norwood Hospital, from where she retired.
Mrs. McCall gave a lifetime of offering her time and talents to family, friends, and worthy causes as evidenced by her countless hours donated to several organizations that were close to her heart. She was involved with St. Catherine’s church for 30-plus-years as a member of the choir; past president of the Norwood Catholic Woman’s Club; and Prefect for the Blessed Virgin Sodality. She was also very active with the Daughters of the British Empire, the Norwood Senior Center, the Norwood Boosters Club, and was a co-founder of the Norwood Scottish Club.
A gifted singer, she was invited to perform at dozens of Scottish dances and activities, and donated her talents in signing at weddings, funerals and special occasions for family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28th at 10:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm in the funeral home.
