Diane Seaverns Brady

Devoted mother of Carl Brady of Norwood and Craig Brady and his wife Catherine of Rochester, NH; Cherished grandmother of Bruce and Luke Brady. She was the loving daughter of Rita (Devine) St. Thomas of So.Yarmouth and the late Charles Seaverns and dear sister of Carol Rodrigues and her husband Kenneth of Hopkinton. She was also the Aunt of David Rodrigues and his wife Lindsey of Framingham, and Daniel Rodrigues of Hopkinton, and great-aunt of Kayla Rodrigues.

Diane was a 1974 graduate of Norwood High School and studied at Northeastern University. Both sons entered the Marine Corps and she became a proud Marine Mom. She volunteered with many town events, education groups and sports team activities. She still had strong ties with her circle of loyal childhood friends.

For over 20 years she worked for the towns of Norwood and Canton as an outreach worker for the Council on Aging until retiring in 2012. Her employers and coworkers praised her dedication and strong work ethic. Her “Senior Friends” benefited from her assistance with their elder application paperwork and daily living issues as well as lending an empathetic ear during her caregivers support groups, bereavement groups and planning social events.

When asked what she was most proud of she always answered “Being called Mom and Grammy and being a good friend.” Her positive attitude and cheery disposition will be missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday November 22 at the First Congregational Church of Norwood at 10 o’clock, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 – 8 at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A), Norwood.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of VNA/VNA Hospice of Cape Cod – all of your caring and kindness made a difference in Diane’s life and to the Yarmouth Fire Department for being her first responders in emergency situations.
