Edward J. Lopez

LOPEZ, Edward J. “Ed” 93 of Norwood and formerly of Newton for over 85 years, Thursday January 12. Son of the late Stephen and Rose (Iacono) Lopez. Beloved husband of 49 years of the late Catherine E. (Larkin) Lopez. Devoted father of Edward J. Lopez Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Fairfield NJ, James G. Lopez and his wife Karen of Norwood, Rosemarie L. Meehan and her husband Ronald of Norwood, and the late Paul S. Lopez, Stephen J. Lopez, and his wife Darlene who survives, and John Lopez, who died in his infancy. Loving grandfather of Michael, David, Kristen, Paul, Brian, and Anthony Lopez, Darcy Bixby, Erin, Joseph, and Richard Meehan, and the late James G. Lopez Jr. Ed is also survived by six great-grandchildren whom he adored. Mr. Lopez was a WW II and Korean War U.S. NAVY Vet. He was a retired Appeals Hearing Officer for The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and was awarded the prestigious Manuel Carbello Award for Public Service. Funeral Tuesday January 17 from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A), NORWOOD, at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood at 11. Visiting hours Monday 3 – 7. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Ed’s memory to A.L.S.
