Joan Marie (Cleary) McElwee

Joan M. ( Cleary) McElwee, of Foxboro, formerly of Norwood, passed away on May 14, 2023 at the age of 72. Beloved wife of Neal McElwee, adored sister of James Cleary of Weymouth, Paul Cleary of Norwood, Susan Archer of Mashpee, Stephen Cleary of Marlborough and a loving aunt to 10 nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by her parents, C. James and Florence Cleary.

A graduate of Norwood High School and Bridgewater State University, she was a dear and close friend to many people in the area. A long-time resident of Norwood and then of Foxboro, Joan was a cancer survivor who was active in the Live Strong Program at the Foxboro YMCA.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Celebration of Life service that will be held at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood, MA on Thursday, May 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment at Highland Cemetery in Norwood, MA will take place on Friday, May 26th at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the C. James Cleary Memorial Scholarship Fund at Stonehill College, Office of Advancement, 320 Main St., Easton MA 02357.
