Joan M. (Falvey) Ryan-Irving

RYAN-IRVING, Joan M. (Falvey), 90 of Vero Beach FL and Green Hill Beach RI, formerly of Norwood and Sharon, Thursday June 23. Daughter of the late Walter A. and Mary (Burns) Falvey. Beloved wife of the late Frank Irving, and Dr. William F. Ryan. Devoted mother of William F. Ryan Jr. and his wife Janet Sides-Ryan of Houston TX, Joan R. Parker and her husband Robin of Norwood, and Mark J. Ryan of San Francisco CA. Loving grandmother of Caitlin Swigart and her husband John of Long Beach CA and Daniel J. Crowley of Norwood. Sister of Frank B. Falvey of Scituate, and the late Walter A. Falvey. Joan was a 1947 graduate of New Rochelle College in NY. She was the retired Vice President and Office Manager of the former Guild Optical Co. of Norwood, a member of the Norwood Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Sharon Garden Club, and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. Joan was instrumental in the acquisition of the property and establishment of Ursuline Academy in Dedham. She had impeccable taste in home decorating and floral arranging, and was the decorator of her own home, and those of her relatives and friends. Visiting hours Thursday, June 30th from 4-8pm at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD. Funeral Friday July 1st from the funeral home at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon at 10am.
