Born and raised in Savin Hill, Dorchester, he was U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. McCaffrey retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was the beloved son of the late John and Margaret (Hickey) McCaffrey; devoted brother of M. Jane Coleman of Norwood, MA, and the late Rev. James McCaffrey, S.J., Bill, Michael, Joe, Peggy, Alice Dwyer, Claire Brady, and Frances Mulkern. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 9:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte 1A), Norwood, and at 10:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 20 from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
