Mary Zetes

Aunt Mary, as she was known by her nieces and nephews, was fiercely independent and proud of her Greek heritage. Mary was born in Boston on August 07, 1927. She attended Roxbury Memorial High School. Mary began her banking career at 16, as an assistant teller at New England Merchants National Bank. Mary retired from banking 45 years later as a Vice President. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed knitting, sewing, and rugmaking.

Mary is survived by her nieces, Kathy Zetes, Joan H. Kimball, Linda Harwood, Mary Ann Zetes, and Carol H. Olmstead, and by her nephew, Edward Harwood. Mary was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Arthur J. Zetes and Peter J. Zetes, and her sister Frances J. Harwood. She was also predeceased by her nephew John A. Zetes.

Mary was active in the Greek Orthodox Church. She leaves behind many loyal friends that she met through the Church and through volunteer and civic organizations. Her family is grateful for their support and continued attention, particularly during the later years of her life.

A Visitation for Mary will be held at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (RT.1A), Norwood, MA on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker St., West Roxbury, MA.
