Matthew P. Folan

Born in Norwood, he was the son of the late Peter and Nora (O’Toole) Folan. Matt was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II as a forward observer with the 26th Infantry Yankee Division. He co-owned and operated the High Street Market in Westwood and Shurfine Market in Norwood for many years.

Beloved husband of the late Jean (Bunker) Folan. Loving brother of Ann Marie “Nancy” Folan and Nora Murphy, both of Norwood and the late Thomas and John Folan and Catherine Garabedian. Brother-in-law of Anne Bunker of Norwood and the late Richard and Robert Bunker. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27th at 10:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte.1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
