Phyllis Alice (Yanchuk) Piraino, 86, of Norwood passed away peacefully on May 7, 2021. Born May 22, 1934 in Boston to Michael and Alice (Podgurski) Yanchuk. Phyllis graduated from Roslindale High School in 1955 and worked as an executive secretary until she met the love of her life, the late Paul Joseph Piraino, to whom she was happily married for over 30 years.

Phyllis was an intelligent, independent and generous woman whose family meant the world to her. Phyllis enjoyed discussing spirituality and wellness, attending church, taking her friends to local dances and competitive ballroom dancing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking Italian meals and vacationing at the family’s summer home on Cape Cod. A devoted wife and exemplary mother, she was primary caregiver for her disabled son, Matthew, for most of her life.

Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Stephen J. Piraino and his wife Cynthia of Lititz, PA, Susan T. Piraino of Ashland, and Matthew J. Piraino of Canton; and her adored grandchildren Gabrielle I. Piraino of New York, NY, and Nicholas P. Piraino and his wife Amanda of Thorndale, PA, and Julia R. Sicard of Ashland. Phyllis is also survived by her dear friend and confidante, Lisa Carroll of Taunton. She was preceded in death by her cherished brothers, Francis, Edward, George and his wife Patricia, and Robert and his wife Kathryn.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14th from 5 to 8pm at Gillooly funeral Home, Norwood. Family and friends are invited to wear pastel colors in honor of Phyllis. A private service will be held on Saturday, May 15th with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis’ honor to United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston, 71 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA 02472

Dear Cousins Susan, Stephan and Matthew,
I am the son of your grandfather's older brother, Tony and his wife, Lina.
I am fortunate to have known and been friendly with your wonderful parents for many years, and even worked in Boston with your Dad in the 1960's. He was considered a top engineer and admired by his fellow workers.
Your happy memories of your mom, Phyllis, will comfort you as you go thru the difficult days ahead.
My own spouse. Marie passed away earlier this year, and I was fortunate to have been married for 62 years.
Please accept my and my family's sincerest condolences.
Your loving cousin, Paul Anthony Piraino
