Ruth Emily Schiavone

Ruth Emily (Blanchard) Schiavone, age 90, of Norwood, MA, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from complications of pneumonia. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. Blanchard and Rose V. (Whalen) Blanchard.

Raised in South Boston, she was a graduate of St. Augustine High School, Class of 1953. She worked for some years before marrying the late Edmund L. Schiavone and having three children. She became a single parent and diligently worked for a few local companies before ultimately finding the ideal position and built a career with Perkin Elmer Corporate where she was a highly valued employee for 35 years, retiring at 79. She's made countless meaningful lasting friendships, as Ruth possessed an engaging kind personality. Outside of work she devoted herself to the cause to uphold the Sanctity of human life in all stages. Ruth was a woman of undeniable integrity, courageously spoke true to her convictions and beliefs.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Mary Shari of Cincinnati, OH, Michael Schiavone of Groton, MA, and Paula Chace-Tibbetts of Fairfield, ME; her eleven grandchildren, nieces and nephew, and 13 grand-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased her sister, Joan M. Cummings, her nephew, William J. ”Billy” Cummings, her brother, Charles H. Blanchard, and niece Paula O’Rourke.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Ruth on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11AM in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Funeral Arrangements were made with the assistance of the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., (Rt.1A) Norwood.

In lieu of flowers all are encouraged to donate to any cause associated with the preservation/protection of human life.
