Abraham John was born in Trivandrum, Kerala on January 23, 1941 to the Late Mr. M. A. John and Mrs. Saramma John. He has three siblings (the late) Leelamma Jacob, Poulose John, and Susy Attumalil (both residing in Baltimore, Maryland). Abraham is survived by his wife, Saramma Abraham, son Bobby Abraham, daughter Beena Mathew, son-in-law Leslie Mathew, and his grandchildren Jacob and Olivia Mathew.
Abraham, or Avarachen as he was affectionately known, completed his pre-university education in Trivandrum. He earned his graduate degree from Mar Ivanious College and a Masters degree in social work at Loyola College, Trivandrum, Kerala. Avarachen came to the United States in 1970 to further pursue his education. He obtained a Masters degree in education from Coppin State University and also received an MBA from Morgan State University. After completing his education, he along with partners started an Indian restaurant. Avarachen then went on to work for the Maryland Insurance Administration where he was a chief financial analyst and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a budget specialist.
He settled in Baltimore, Maryland where he and Saramma raised their children with the foundation of faith, family and education. Avarachen enjoyed listening to music, watching sports/movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.
We will deeply miss his steadfast presence. As his family, we are truly blessed to have had someone so loving, humble, and generous in our lives. He will be forever missed, but we rejoice in knowing that he has found peace with our Father in Heaven.
