

Barbara Ann Snyder (nee Taylor), age 77, of Perry Hall, MD died on Monday, December 28, 2015 of natural causes. She leaves behind beloved husband of 57 years, Myron “Jim” Snyder, son, Stephen Snyder and his wife, Andrea, daughter Susan Taylor (nee Snyder) and her husband Wayne and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Samantha Snyder. She is also survived by two sisters: Patricia Leslie (nee Taylor) and Jane Wohner (nee Taylor), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Bethlehem, PA, Barbara and her parents moved to Sparrows Point, MD when she was just a toddler. After graduating from Sparrows Point High School in 1956, where she excelled in art and calligraphy and was editor of the school paper, Barbara began working as a secretary at Arcrods Corporation. Soon thereafter, she was introduced to her future husband, Myron “Jim” Snyder, to whom she was married in 1958. In 1963, they built their home in Perry Hall, MD where they began their family. After her children began Middle School, Barbara returned to the work force where she served as an administrative assistant to Dr. Gustav Ury and, later, Dr. Edward Rose and then his daughter, Dr. Wendy Rose-Hyatt. She was very active in the Perry Hall Women’s Club, acting as secretary for a number of years. In addition, she and her husband were blessed to have enjoyed a number of trips together over the years, travelling across the United States, as well as to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Egypt. During the summer months, she could often be found enjoying the family cabin on Broad Creek.
Barbara nurtured many talents through the years including cross stitch, sewing, cooking and baking, but most of all, she will be remembered for her fierce love of and dedication to her family who are forever indebted to her for the impact she had on their lives.
Family and friends may pay their respects at Schimunek Funeral Home in Perry Hall on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 1-4 p.m. A service will take place at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Maryland.
