I can’t believe it’s already been three years. There are so many things around my house that remind me of Ernie. I was so fortunate to be his friend.

one of my favorite memories of pop pop ernie would have to be from my childhood. when he wore a red shirt, i would say “pop pop you’re wearing a ketchup shirt!” and when he wore a yellow shirt, i would say “pop pop you’re wearing a mustard shirt!” while i know that is so simple, i still remember he’d laugh and smile every time. i’ll forever cherish the 21 years i got with my “PPE”, until we meet again!

I knew Mr. Roberts through the auction scene. He was one of the kindest and most genuine human beings I have ever met. I am sorry to hear about his passing. My sympathy and respect to his family & friends.


Ernie was always a special person ! He was a loyal and treasured friend. My sincere condolences to his Family and friends.

Ernie and I worked together at Western Electric , but didn't become good friends until he had his shop on York Road in Cockeysville. I would stop by every week to talk to him about photography. He was an excellent photographer and knew more about photography, trains, and most anything than anyone I ever met. He printed lots of 16X20 framed prints from glass negative that will never be duplicated. I will treasure them for the rest of my life.
Ernie and I shared so many personal stories that I will remember forever. After I introduced him to my wife she thought that he was one of the best friends I could have. We both enjoyed his quirky, dry sense of humor. We especially looked forward to his annual Christmas card always with a hand-written one-liner!(we received one this year promising to explain his absence from phone conversations and calls unreturned.)
He was a true friend and I can not express in words how he will be missed

Ernie was the nicest And most generous guy you could meet.  His knowledge and insight about Baltimore and the railroad were helpful when I was looking for information about my grandparents. His knowledge of mechanics turned into a lesson whenever I saw him.  And his photography skills were incredible. I will truly miss you Ernie. You were a good friend.
