

On November 30, 2014, Grace Mildred (nee Miller) Dougherty passed away at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson after a long struggle with the complications of Alzheimer’s. She was 93. Grace, the daughter of Lydia Lengler and Ray Miller was born and raised in Scranton, PA and attended and graduated from Scranton High School with honors. She met her future husband, Millard Dougherty while in high school. They were married in early 1942 celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary this past year. Grace accompanied Millard, when possible, on his many military assignments, including overseas in Japan, Germany and Panama, during her husband’s long military career. She is survived by her husband Millard, daughter Judith Ann Sweeney and her husband Francis, two grandsons, Ronald DiFatta and his wife Cheryl, Millard DiFatta, great grandson Christopher DiFatta and his wife Jennifer and great great grandson Christopher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews to include some great, great, great and a sister Lois Phillips.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. (at Forge Rd) on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:30 pm. Interment is taking place at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery.
