

Born to Francis and Elizabeth (nee McDonald) Hossbach in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Edison High School after which he attended the Maryland Institute of Art for Architectural Design for three years, and then attended and graduated from Johns Hopkins University - McCoy College of Architectural Drafting, Design and Practice. Jim married Lois Marie (nee Giammari) Hossbach and during course of marriage had two sons James and Steven.
During the early part of his career Jim worked for the James W. Rouse Company where he met Arlene Lower, whom also worked for the Rouse Company. They both moved away, Jim to Florida and Arlene to Richmond. After many years of marriage, both Jim and Arlene lost their spouses due to illness.
Jim and Arlene met again in 1973 and in April 27, 1974 they married. Jim enjoyed boating and spent many summers cruising the Chesapeake Bay, he also enjoyed wood carving, gardening, reading and working with the Shriners. Through their love of boating Jim and Arlene became members of Crescent Yacht Club and later Boumi Yacht Club where he became Commandore. Jim was an active member of the Boumi Shriners and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge and achieved the level of Potentate of the Boumi Shriners Temple AAONMS in 1999. They both enjoyed many years of fellowship and volunteering to help the children of the Shrine. Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years Arlene Lower Hossbach (nee Gamble), his children, Jamie, Steve & his wife Sherry Hossbach, Darla & her husband Gregg Perreault, Dina Chester, five grandchildren Stephanie Hossbach, Joseph Perreault, James Rice, Andrew Hossbach, Brandon Raines and three great grandchildren Chloe Perreault, Giovanni Rice and Ella Raines.
