On January 13, 2026, JoAnne Lee Woodward (née Heavener) peacefully passed away. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Blakely Woodward and companion of the late John Martin, Sr.; devoted mother of Sharon Sundstrom and the late Andreas, Michele Shane and Greg, and the late Deborah Hoeck and Steve; loving grandmother of Ronda Reyes and Ronnie, Christi Benhoff and Jake, Marc Sundstrom and Kyle Sundstrom, Stephen Hoeck, Jr. and Amanda, Trisha Whitacre and Ben, Nicole Tyson and Derek, Natalie Shane, Alan Shane and Mary Beth, Matthew Shane and Brittany, Trevor Shane and the late Michael Hoeck; and dear great-grandmother of Lexi, Drew, J.J., Joanna, Blakely, Tyler, Riley, Elliott, and Everett.
JoAnne, known to family and friends as Josie, Miss JoAnne, MomMom Two, or simply the lady with all the grandkids, was the heart and matriarch of her family. She taught unconditional love, joy, persistence, and the importance of cherishing every moment. She loved many things—boating on the Chesapeake, riding horses, building a dream home with her beloved husband Ron, traveling in the RV with Pop John, and sharing summers at the Baltimore Yacht Club—but nothing brought her more happiness than her family.
She shared a rich and adventurous life with her beloved husband Ron, nurturing a love of boating and horses, building a dream home together, and cultivating a blossoming family that grew far beyond measure. After Ron’s sudden passing, she found joy and companionship with John, traveling in their RV and fostering a love for the Baltimore Yacht Club, where countless memories were made on the water with family and friends. JoAnne created countless treasured memories: family boat trips on the “Miss Cool,” Mickey Mouse pancake breakfasts, epic bowling nights, family card games, cousin sleepovers, and playful adventures around her home and at the Baltimore Yacht Club. She shaped generations with her charm, determination, and spirit, leaving a family bound by love, laughter, and traditions that will continue for years to come.
Her generosity and love extended far beyond her own family. Friends, neighbors, and family friends knew her simply as MomMom, because she welcomed everyone into her life, making all feel included and cherished. Her warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit touched countless lives.
JoAnne is now reunited with Ron, John, her daughter Debbie, grandson Michael, and many other cherished family members and dear friends. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and spirit live on in every story told, every tradition honored, and every bond shared. All who knew her were truly blessed.
