He was the beloved partner of Carolyn Ambrose; devoted father of Jonathan, John Jr., Kingsley, Gage Blalock; loving son of Charles Blalock, step son of Margaret Gier; dear brother of the late Russell Blalock, Grace Blalock, Howard Hipp, Matthew Hipp; cherished nephew of Oscar Blalock, Marie Blalock, and Lillian Blalock.
