I called him "Uncle Joe"  I was a  24 year old letter carrier, ( (1982),  new to Baltimore and the Post Office.  He mentored me and showed me the "ropes." I lost touch with him after his wife passed away, but I am glad he lived such a long life and that he passed on peacefully in his sleep.   30 + years of retirement !!! His mail route was #1836, in Waverly. It covered the homes surrounding the former Memorial Stadium. After he retired a co worker and I would visit he and his wife at his apartment on Glen Keith Ave. He always had a beer waiting for us !  I'll always remember him.  He influenced me greatly..Now I am retired too, and living in PA, the home town I came from. Great memories of Joe .. Worth mentioning, when he retired in Sept 84 ( or 85?) I took over his mail route.  So I always filled him on  what was going on with his former  patrons...My condolences to his family.

Poppop joe was such a sweet soul.  He will be missed ❤️

What a better way to celebrate St Patrick’s Day then to honor Joe Colleran, our favorite Irishman, who met his maker 2 nights ago at the age of 97.  He was independent, living alone, and driving around the suburbs of Baltimore up until 8-9 days ago.  He was Greg’s grandfather, Izzy and Dellas only great grand dad, the palmer of 20$ bills, and a sweet soul.  He loved kids, his family, eating out, a cold beer (preferring a good micro brew) the O’s and crabs.  We are so grateful he joined God in the most dignified way by passing gracefully in his sleep.  He will be so missed ❤️

Uncle Joe... my best memories with uncle Joe go way back, they were some of my best childhood years. From sitting on his front porch watching the fireworks at Memorial Stadium, to meeting some of the original Oriole’s, that were neighbors.
He was a favorite, he was everybody’s favorite... just someone you could always laugh with, and he was always glad to see us.  I will miss him.... but I know he’s in heaven right now, eating steamed  crabs and a cold one. RIP Uncle Joe❤️

My favorite uncle. Always so happy and always smiling! From a little girl., I remember my sister Debbie Jean  and I were always so excited when we would visit Uncle Joe and Aunt Mary!!! And. ...We loved seeing Anita and Joey too!!
Thank u Uncle Joe for your gracious heart . You were a true example of a gentleman ! Just like my dear dad. Feeling sad but so very honored to call you my uncle.!  Say hi to dad for me!
