She is gone

You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she's gone.
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
or you can do what she would want:
Smile, Open your Eyes, Love and Go on.

For a Mother-in-Law, Just Like a mom

In life's grand mosaic, it's rare to find,
A second mother, so loving and kind.
Not just by marriage, but in my heart's core,
You became the mother I couldn't adore more.

Your guidance, like whispers of ancient old trees,
Your laughter, the breeze that puts souls at ease.
To call you 'in-law' just doesn’t seem right,
For you've been a mom, in every true light.

You held me close, in sorrow and glee,
With lessons of love, so effortlessly.
The stories we've woven, the memories we've spun,
Echo tales of warmth, like rays of the sun.

In you, I found more than I ever foresaw,
Not just a mother-in-law, but a mother to adore.
For in every gesture, every comforting hum,
I found in you, another cherished mom.

So, here's to the love, that continues to bloom.

Heaven has gained another Angel.  My sweet mother went to heaven on Friday, Sept 29, 2023, at the age of 86.  Mom is finally reunited with Dad, so we know she is at peace, happy, and no longer in pain.  On the last morning, Mom squeezed our hands to acknowledge us and squeezed our hands again to acknowledge she understood the Orioles are the AL East Champions!!  In the late afternoon, her earthly heart stopped peacefully......but we know her heavenly heart and soul were already with her beloved Albert.  She will be greatly missed and our hearts are broken, but she will live on in our hearts, treasured memories, and ALL her picture albums(!).  Her entire life was dedicated to her family, first her parents (Earl and Ruth), then her husband (Albert), her children and their husbands (Bethany & George, Laurie & Rod, Sharon & Sonny), and most importantly her grandchildren (Bradley & Kendall, Tyler & Lindsey, and Meghan) and great-grandchild (Wesley).  She was so proud of all our accomplishments, especially the grandchildren- along with my father, coming to all their activities, music events, parades, sports, graduations, etc (she loved anything to do with the grandchildren and their schedule came first!).  Mom really liked Christmas-time, baking cookies, our family gatherings, tree ornaments, and her Santa collection (buying ornaments and Santas wherever she went, anytime of the year!).  Mom loved all our family vacations, especially Ocean City and Disney World (FL and CA!!).  Will miss you, (and your crumb cake!), but you will live on in all of us. We love you more than words can say, Mom.

From the beginning Ms. Phyllis welcomed me into the family and made me feel like one of her own. I always enjoyed talking sports with her, especially the Orioles. I was humbled to learn that, while watching a video of me at work, she referred to me as a "grandson" which truly touched me and I hoped she knew that I thought of her as a grandmother. She was a special lady and she will be greatly missed. I know she is reunited with Mr. Al and heaven has two of the biggest Orioles fans to root them on through the playoffs. RIP Ms. Phyllis.
