

Shirley was born and raised in Baltimore County, MD where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Kenwood HS in Essex, MD, and went on to earn her cosmetology license and open her own salon located in Highlandtown, MD. Throughout her career, Shirley was involved in and excelled at many entrepreneurial endeavors beyond the beauty shop, including a jewelry store, tanning salons, cabinet making, eBay, consignment booths, realtor, and so many more. Shirley also retired from Amtrak after working on the Acela high-speed train after 13 years. She always loved to be involved in life and on the go, which included trying her luck at casinos. Shirley loved living part-time in Ocean City, MD, where she was able to watch both people and dolphins at the inlet, attend a 50’s band concert, or visit with friends. Shirley proudly showed support for her daughter, Michelle, through many sports, while socializing and traveling with friends and developing friendships with everyone she met.
Shirley leaves behind her cherished daughter Michelle Proser, sister Rosann (Herman) Nagle, sister-in-law Judy (Denison) Herman, two nieces, Cory and Beth, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. Shirley was preceded by her husband Gary Alan Proser, mother Rosa (Jacobin) Herman, father Dale Edgar Herman, brothers Ed Herman, Paul Herman, and Anthony Herman.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236 on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM, where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
