Born on July 4, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland, Vince Bosse embodied the finest qualities of his generation – devotion to family, pride in service to our nation, commitment to achievement through honesty, hard work, and common sense. He was a man of deep integrity who set a standard for precision, excellence, and doing the right thing at all times.
Vince entered eternal life on Sunday, June 23, 2024, surrounded by family.
Vince’s greatest pride was the family he and his lifelong love and wife of 69 years, the late Patrica A. Bosse (nee Toboll), created. The young 82nd Airborne Staff Sergeant and Master Parachutist and new St. Agnes Hospital Nursing School graduate began their married life in 1951 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Overlea, Maryland. They welcomed twin sons within the year; two more sons and a daughter followed. Vince joined Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. after completing his military service and enjoyed a long career in gas operations and management. In his personal and professional life, he was a master problem solver, embedding the “figure it out” mentality in his children and grandchildren. He was one of the founding members of the Overlea-Fullerton Recreation Council, spending countless hours as coach, referee and umpire for the boys of the community.
Vince was most relaxed in his enviable workshop where he handcrafted bookshelves and other items for every member of the family. Deep rooted in Maryland, he loved sports, the abundance of the Chesapeake, waterfowl, all things nautical, and especially the beach.
Vince followed the trajectory of family accomplishment with quiet pride – from military service, to work in medical professions, law, higher education, mechanical and electrical trades, and information management; to conservation and ecology, writing, business, defense, and national security professions. His influence on all is indelible.
Vince was the devoted father of CAPT. Michael J. Bosse, M.D., U.S. Navy, Retired and his wife Ellen, Col. Timothy G. Bosse, U.S. Army, Retired and his wife Patricia, CAPT. Thomas E. Bosse, U.S. Navy, Retired and his wife Kathy, Daniel P. Bosse and his wife Kathy, and Patricia Bosse Gunther and her husband Frank; cherished grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and their families, and twenty-five great-grandchildren; dear brother of Albert Bosse. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Bosse, and five siblings.
