

Brian Stephen Bourke Was born in Dublin, Ireland on July 9, 1939, the youngest of six to Lillian and Joseph Bourke. He followed his brothers to San Francisco in 1959. Brian met his wife, Beryl in 1962 and married in 1965. They met while hiking in the Sierras with the American Youth Hostels, of which Brian was a charter member. Brian and Beryl moved to Mill Valley in 1967 and then on to Corte Madera in 1973 and Novato in 1989. Brian worked for Volkswagen in San Francisco for 25 years, moving up from Mechanic to Service Advisor and after to Van Ness Auto Plaza. He was a devoted catholic, family man and dog enthusiast. Brian is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beryl, sons, Paul, Sean and David (Susan), grandchildren, Alix, Joseph, Emma, Emily and Kevin. Also survived by brothers and a sister, Vincent of Modesto, Noreen Charles and Joseph Bourke of England and Frank Bourke of Portugal and numerous nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his brother, Denis Bourke, 1993 and an infant son, Kevin Bourke, 1973. A Rosary will be held at St. Anthony's of Padua Catholic Church, 1000 Cambridge St., Novato, CA on Tuesday, May 13, 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 14 at 11:00AM to be followed by a reception in the church hall. Charitable donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Hospice by the Bay or Marin Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Keaton's Redwood Chapel.
