

Katherine Grace Potter Born December 15, 1926 Katherine (known as Kathy) was born in Camden, NJ and moved to Hollywood, California at the age of 20. She was predeceased by her dearly beloved companion of 40 years, Robert J. Lehmann, and by seven of her siblings: Alfred, Phillip, Louise, Chester, Ralph, Terry, and Marie. Kathy, was the devoted and loving mother of John Jay Potter of Novato. She was the loving grandmother of Ayla Katherine Potter of Chico, California. She is also survived by her long time close friend Michael P. Villella and his son Georgio Villella of Los Angeles, her loving Caretaker, Linda Christine Foster, and numerous nieces and nephews in New Jersey and throughout the East Coast. Kathy's greatest joys were raising her son and giving to all of those around her. She was very generous and social, and always put the well being of others before hers. Her giving and kindness is the quality most mentioned by all who knew her. And her stories of her life in Hollywood for 60 years were treasured by all those who spent time with her. Kathy worked for many years (50's and early 60's) as a Cocktail Waitress at the Slate Brother's Night Club on the famous La Cienega Blvd, often known as Restaurant Row. At that time, Slate Brothers was one of the top spots for many of the most famous stars to come to including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Jack Jones, Don Rickles, and many other stars of the stage and screen as well as writers, producers, and directors. Kathy got to know many of these famous people personally, as well as helped many of them in their early years with finding them housing, helping with child care, errands, etc. She was once asked to be an extra in a film which led to her becoming a part time actress. As an actress, she had small parts in many famous movies including: Some Like It Hot, Pillow Talk, The Ladies Man, and The Buccaneers. She also developed a special friendship with Marilyn Monroe who at one time offered to adopt her son. In the late 60's and 70's, Kathy managed the Steak and Stein Restaurant on Sunset Blvd before taking a job as a Waitress, Hostess and Manager at The HMS Bounty restaurant on Wilshire Blvd before retiring. Kathy moved to Novato, California in 2011 to be closer to her son and granddaughter.
