Passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023 at his home in Novato at the young age of 94, surrounded by his family. Cherished father of Debbie Vinson (Marc) of Florida, Greg Beebe (Dawn) of Novato, Paul Beebe of Novato & Gina Tomrose (Michael) of Petaluma. Beloved grandfather of the late Nichole Beebe-Gannon, Michael Beebe, Jessica Beebe, Marcus Vinson (Alyssa), Raquel Tomrose, Clint Vinson & Brittney Tomrose. Beloved great-grandfather of Domonic Gannon, Riley Gannon & Landen Smith. Preceded in death by his sister Marie Warden (George), brother Paul (Marguerite), sister Rita Bushelman (George), brother Ralph (Alice), brother Don (Sally), sister Cathaleen Beebe & brother Fred (Mary). Martin is survived by his sister Eva Miller (Kenny), sister Anna Beebe and brother Jimmy (Rosie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Martin was born and raised in Ohio with his parents Catherine (Reising) and Martin P. Beebe. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War in 1951-1952. After he was honorably discharged from the army, due to a traumatic brain injury, he went back to Ohio to work for the papermill company, where he met the mother of his children, Georgia Coldiron. After their marriage in 1954, Martin and Georgia set out for California so he could work for his sister Marie and brother-in-law George Warden. Then he joined the Retail Clerks Union and worked at Roger Wilco until he retired. They raised their 4 children in Novato, the place that he called home.
Martin’s hobbies included ballroom dancing, tap dancing, whistling, gardening and making homemade jelly to share with all his family and friends, but his passion was doing anything with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his life. He was the most joyful when spending time with all of them. He ALWAYS had time to help out a friend, no matter how big or how small of a project, he was happy to help and did it with a huge smile on his face. He was a one of a kind. He was the happiest, most caring, thoughtful, selfless, positive person ever. God broke the mold after he was born. There isn’t another like him nor will there ever be. He was everybody’s best friend, and he will be greatly missed by all. We may have lost him here on earth, but we have another guardian angel in heaven watching over us. May you rest in peace until we meet again.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery & Funeral Home, 650 Bugeia Lane, Novato. Reception to follow services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Hospice.
