Pamela Jo Beatty was born on December 27, in 1950 to Edna and Bill Beatty. A lifelong resident of Marin, she graduated from San Rafael High and Dominican College. She worked for 25 years for the County of Marin, notably as the Program Manager of Food Stamps, until her retirement at age 50.
After retirement she returned to Dominican to obtain her Master’s in Humanities (Summa Cum Laude) and subsequently volunteered at Dominican and at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art.
She was intellectually curious and a lifelong learner. She is remembered for being hugely generous to friends and family, as well as to the causes that mattered to her, especially animal welfare. She was treasured by her friends for her loving nature and sense of humor. She will leave a gap that cannot be filled.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, and her sister Cynthea Beatty Hayakawa. She is survived by her friend and long-time companion Molly Forde, and her niece, Lilith Hayakawa Mist, and nephew, Nathaniel Hayakawa. No services are planned, at her request. She will be laid to rest at the Chapel of the Chimes Rose Garden in Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd, Novato, CA 94949) or Best Friends Animal Society (5001 Angel Canyon Road Kanab, Utah 84741-5000).
