Steven was born in Marshall Minnesota on March 27, 1950, to his parents William Harry Grogan and Margeret Marie Grogan. From there he traveled abroad with them, due to his father working with Bechtel, a worldwide pipe lining company.
At the age of 4, he got a baby brother, William Patrick Grogan, on Sept 19th, 1954. He also began kindergarten where he met his best friend Gary Simontacchi, at Olive School in Novato, CA. From then on they became the best of friends, and school mates, as they went on to start 3rd grade together at Our Lady of Loretto Church School.
In February of 1964, Steven and his family moved to Germany due to his father’s job with Bechtel. During his time there, he learned new languages, adapted to new cultures and met many friends. Some of his favorite memories there were his love of motorbikes.
In 1968, Steven went back to Minnesota to attend college for Mechanics Engineering at Southwest Minnesota State University. Where he graduated and then went to work with his father at Bechtel in 1972.
From there, he traveled all over the world working as a Mechanic Engineer with Bechtel from places like Iraq, Columbia, Alaska and many more. He learned a lot of cultures, languages, and gained a very eclectic taste for many different foods and music.
In those times, he met his first wife, Sally. They fell in love and married. A few years later they had a daughter Sabina Marie Grogan, on August 17th, 1980. She became the ultimate love of his life. A true Daddy’s Little Girl.
As life happens, things changed. After a separation, where as Steven gained full custody of Sabina, and his career needed to change. That is when he decided to start a risky venture, that led to full success.
During his new and recent venture, he met his second wife, and the love of his life, Lynda. After Falling in love, they married in 1989 where he gained a son, Gino Cecchetto. During those years, Sabina and Gino had the best and ultimate times, with many family adventures.
With business booming and lots of success in all aspects of life, he, Lynda, and their new found friend and family member Debbie Yeakey created a thriving local business in Northern California, Cellular World.
From then on he thrived, from owning a home which he loved in Hawaii where he gained many friends and family. He also traveled abroad and met and touched the lives of thousands of people.
Steven loved to party. He was extremely social and loved to meet new people. He would turn any situation into an epic party to be remembered forever. From him always ready to blast some legendary music, to picking up a harmonica, or a guitar, to dancing the night away. From Super Bowl parties, to toga parties, 4th of July parties, to just party period. He will always be remembered as the yodeling loose goose he was.
Steven had the ultimate biggest heart for everyone. He would literally give the shirt off his own back to someone he called his friend. From his love of his family, his daughter Sabina, his friends, his redwoods, nature, to just everything. He became a legend. And as the saying goes, “LEGENDS NEVER DIE!”
Steven will be missed dearly by many, but will forever live on through our all memories.
Rest in Peace Steve.
We love you, Grasshopper.
Always and Forever.
