

Albert W. McConchie, age 89 of Oak Harbor, Washington passed away on June 22, 2013. He was born on August 31, 1923 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to Albert A. and Dorothy May (Carlton) McConchie. His parents moved the family to Dearborn, Michigan. Albert served his country in the US Army briefly during WWII but was discharged for medical reasons. In 1944, he married Thelma Garland. Together they had one child, Robert. Albert worked in civil service for 31 years while residing in Fontana and Orangeville, California. In 2007 he moved to Whidbey Island. At that time he joined what became Grace by the Sea Church in Oak Harbor. He was a long time member of the Masons, the Elks and NARF. He loved reading, working with his hands and tools and raising his son.
Albert is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma and two brothers: Earl and Eddie. He is survived by his son Robert W. McConchie of Oak Harbor, his 2 grandchildren; Brian M. McConchie of Orange County, California and Leslie A. Riddick of Lincoln, California, two great grand children Joseph Montgomery and Harley Riddick and a sister Barbara Hall of Dearborn, Michigan.
Albert was known as a friend to all who knew him, especially Barbara Hertzler and Paul Orritt who stood by Albert at his death. His ashes will be buried with those of his wife at Mt Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks, California
