

Barry Allen Paggi, age 49, passed away on May 29th, 2011 in Oak Harbor, Washington. He was born on April 22, 1962 in Blue Island, Illinois to Willard J. “Bud” and Beverly (Diermeyer) Paggi. He was one of six children. After graduating from high school, Barry joined the US Marine Corps so that he could serve his country. He fought in the first Persian Gulf War and was deployed overseas eleven times. While stationed in Alameda California, he met and married the love of his life Sue Bowden. He retired in 2002 as a First Sargent. Barry then joined the Washington State Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer. Barry was a mentor to many young officers. They sought him out as a guiding light. Barry’s other interests were fishing, travel and sports especially his beloved Chicago Bears.
Barry was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, his father and two sisters Donna Marthea and Vicky Paggi; three brothers Terry Paggi, Ricky Paggi and Randy Paggi; one step-daughter Crystal Sally and several nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Family Bible Church, Oak Harbor, WA on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11 AM. A second Memorial Service will be held at the Monroe Correctional Complex, Walk of Remembrance, Monroe, WA on June 24, 2011 at 11AM. Burley Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
