

Howard (Stewart) Congdon, born in Sandwich, Illinois, June 3, 1939, died March 11, 2013, surrounded by his family and pastor. Stewart served in the US Marine Corps before entering college. He graduated from San Diego State University then went to San Francisco Theological Seminary and Fuller Seminary where he earned a Doctorate of Ministry. As a Presbyterian minister he served churches in Iowa, Colorado, and Washington and completed his career in ministry by serving a parish church in Northern Scotland.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Oak Harbor, daughter Sandra Beattie and her husband Clyde Beattie of Anchorage, Alaska, son David Congdon and his wife Rebecca of Silverdale, WA and his grandchildren, Jennifer and Fiona Beattie and Tom and Amanda Congdon and his sister Miriam Darr of Mission Viejo, CA.
A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Anacortes on March 23, at 2 P.M.
In lieu of flowers remembrances in Stewart’s name can be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Anacortes.
