Bernard “Bernie” Cicora, 89. Beloved and devoted husband of the late Diane (nee Radek). Loving father of Sheryl (Rey) Zedler, Kristin (Tom) Lorenz and Melissa (Irene Houlihan). Cherished grandfather of Tyler Lorenz, Alexandra Zedler, Erik Zedler, Tanner Lorenz, Reed Zedler and Mardi Lorenz. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and “Uncle Bernie” to all. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents Al and Lottie Cicora as well as his brother, Bob. He was a peacetime war veteran, serving two tours for the United States Army. He was the first to attend college and after his time at Ferris State University, he married Diane and together raised their three daughters. Bernie was a natural salesman starting his career at a local drugstore, selling magazines door to door and finally beginning his career at Ready Access Manufacturing, quickly becoming the face of the Drive Thru window. He was a Southsider “tru and tru” loving his Chicago sports especially the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears. While he loved Chicago, his passion was golf. He loved to play and tell anyone who would listen about each and every stroke he took. It took him almost 80 years to get that first hole in one. All he could say about it was “unbelievable” but we all know that he was the one who was truly “unbelievable”. Visitation for Bernie will be held Thursday, November 20th from 4pm – 8pm at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home located at 17W201 Roosevelt Road (one block West of Rt. 83), Oakbrook Terrace. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 21st, 8:45am prayers from the funeral home, to Notre Dame Catholic Church, Clarendon Hills. 10am Mass. Interment Bronswood Cemetery.
