Chuck T. Huang was born in Chiayi, Taiwan in 1939. The eighth of nine children, Chuck lived through the Japanese occupation in Taiwan and lost his father at an early age, but still pursued his dream of a career in the sciences and graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He lived out the American Dream by emigrating to the U.S. with pennies in his pocket, washing dishes to earn money. He got his Masters in Engineering and then proceeded to work with several Chicagoland firms during the course of his career, working on projects such as the construction of the accelerator at FermiLab and the International Terminal at O’Hare Airport.
To send two children through medical school debt free, Chuck also obtained his Real Estate License, buying and managing several rental properties to earn supplemental income. Chuck loved working with his hands to maintain his home’s landscape and remodel the interior, even on his last day.
Chuck was tragically killed while walking across Naperville Road in Wheaton when he was struck by a vehicle. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, “Katie”, his children Annie (Peter), Charles (Sharon), four grandchildren and other extended family across the U.S. and Taiwan. He will be greatly missed.
