Jack T. Dempsey

Jack T. Dempsey, age 80, passed away on August 30, 2024. Loving husband of over 59 years to Janice L. Dempsey, nee Stark; Beloved father to Jack Dempsey, Jr., Jonathan (partner, Lisa Wojcik) Dempsey, and Julie Dempsey; Cherished grandfather to Vincent (Jaci) Dempsey; Dear brother to Janice (Nancy Thomas) Dempsey; Uncle, cousin, and friend to many; Best friend to Charlie. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Nellie Dempsey, along with his brother, Garland (Linda) Dempsey.

Jack grew up in southern Illinois, being born in Christopher, before moving north after High School, where he would meet his wife and build a family. He spent his professional career as a machinist and later a supervisor, working at both Danly and Mah Machine near Cicero, IL. Jack would also use his machinist background to work side jobs as a mechanic occasionally. In his free time, he would do many things, including being a longtime volunteer at the Countryside ESDA. Jack was a passionate Bears fan, holding a season ticket for many years. He had a love for hunting, especially in Savannah, IL where we would own property with a few friends to gather quite often. But most importantly and above all, Jack’s family was everything to him.

Visitation for Jack will be from 10 AM – 1 PM on Friday, September 6, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17w201 Roosevelt Rd, Oakbrook Terrace, IL, where a Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM. Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s name may be made to the Hinsdale Humane Society, 21 Salt Creek Ln, Hinsdale, IL 60521.
