

Richard L. Maas formerly of Chicago, lllinois, age 85 passed away on April 1st, 2023. Beloved husband of Bonnie (nee Lojas) Maas; loving father to, Sharon (Paul) Breytspraak, Christine (Howard) Ruback, Mary Ellen (Arnie) Albrecht; forever cherished grandpa to David (Laura), Josephine, Samantha, Gia, and Benjamin. Dear brother to; Helen Diefenthaler Robert Maas, Tom Maas, Dave Maas, and Diane Donaldson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; brothers, Joseph Maas, William Maas; sisters, Angela “Sue” Kuerseten, and Linda Carroll.
Richard worked for many years in public transportation as a bus operator for PACE Bus Company and served on the Executive Union Board. During his years of work at PACE his attention to safety earned him the Two-Million Milers award. He was a devoted Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. He was experienced in bike repair and owned a bike repair shop for numerous years. Richard was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be fondly remembered as someone that every animal and child he met was drawn to his warm personality.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial visitation to be held on Friday, April 14th, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home & Cemetery, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at 9:30 am at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1S314 Summit Avenue. Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, or make a random act of kindness in Richards memory.
