Teresita Hilz

Teresita was a proud nurse, who completed her training in the 1950s in Baguio City, Philippines. She received her RN license in Toronto, Canada in 1961, where she eventually met lifelong friends, Robert and Gloria Bates. She worked as a nurse in Toronto, and then Chicago. She finished her nursing career as an OR nurse at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, spending most of her time in the plastic surgery department.

While living in Chicago, she married Roman S. Delacruz, MD. The couple had a son together, Roman Edward “Teddy” Delacruz, in 1977. After Roman’s passing, she met and fell in love with Richard Hilz in 1997 on an Aegean Cruise, and the two were married in 1998. The couple moved to Hernando, FL, where Teresita lived with Richard until his passing in 2012.

In her free time, Teresita enjoyed traveling and caring for her pets; cats, Kitty, Oliver, and Misiu; and dog, Whitey.

Teresita is survived by her sons, Teddy, and Robert Daniel "Danny" Ela; and her nieces and nephews, Dave, Father Eric, Rex, Jonathan, Judith, Arlene, Janette, and Noel. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Emerito O. Tolentino, Romeo O. Tolentino, and Josefina O. Tolentino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 254 N Wood Dale Road, Wood Dale, at 10am. Interment will be held privately.
