Sherry Lee Peters

Sherry Lee (Gregory) Peters was born on November 19, 1944 in Buffalo, New York. Sherry peacefully passed away May 14, 2026 at the age of 81 in Oakhurst, having lived in Mariposa for 64 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Yvonne (Harrington) and Woodrow Gregory and survived by sisters Jan Gregory and Jackie Fisher.

Sherry met John Peters in 1966, and as John says, “That was it”. From their first date at the Le Grange rodeo to her final days, they were never separated. Together they raised four children, Linda Johnson, Richard Peters, Marcia Price, and Jenny Gamble. They were blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sherry spent many years working for Mariposa Family Medicine and JC Fremont Clinic in the medical records department. She served as the President of the Mariposa Fish and Game Protective Association. She loved to host gatherings in her home, including Bunco, The Porch Ladies of Idle Wheels, and as a stop on the Christmas home tour. She enjoyed visiting the area casinos and organized the bus to take groups to Black Oak Casino.

The family would like to acknowledge the caring staff at Majestic Mountain Care Center in Oakhurst where Sherry resided for the last few years of her life. The love and concern shown for both Sherry and John will not be forgotten.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
