Esther Sabina Rojas

Esther “Techa” Sabina Mondragón Reyes passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Oakland, California, surrounded by the love of her children, granddaughter, and husband. Born on January 30, 1948 in Chontales, Nicaragua, she was the beloved daughter of Adilia Reyes and Jose Jesus Mondragón. Esther was one of eight siblings and shared a lifelong bond with her brothers and sisters: Matilde, Mirna, Freddy, Sylvia, Lucy, Isaac, and Adilia.

She was a supportive and loving wife to Gonzalo, a loving mother (and mother-in-law) to Martin, Tania, and Chris, and a doting grandmother "Ita" to Camila Fay. Esther was the heart and soul of her family. She was also a beloved aunt and great-aunt, whose steady presence, playful humor, and generous love enriched the lives of her many nieces, nephews, and their children.

She had a warrior’s heart, a creative and brilliant mind, and a laugh and smile that inspired everyone around her.

Esther immigrated to California in the late 60’s with her courageous mother and dazzling sisters, and built an amazing life for herself, her children, and future generations. She lived her life with courage, strength, and unconditional love for her children and family. Her sharp wit, and no-nonsense style, grounded in love and laughter has left an indelible mark on her entire family now and forever. She will be profoundly missed, deeply remembered, and forever cherished.

The family will host a Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 29th at a private residence in Los Angeles, CA. She will be interred at Joshua Memorial in Lancaster, CA on June 30, 2025 at 10:30am. Please contact her children, Martin or Tania, for further details.

Esther “Techa” Mondragón Reyes falleció el 4 de abril de 2025 en Oakland, California, rodeada del amor de sus hijos, su nieta y su esposo. Nacida el 30 de enero de 1948 en Chontales, Nicaragua, fue la querida hija de Adilia Reyes y José Jesús Mondragón. Esther tenía ocho hermanos y compartió un vínculo de por vida con sus hermanos y hermanas: Matilde, Mirna, Freddy, Sylvia, Lucy, Isaac y Adilia.

Fue una esposa amorosa para Gonzalo, una madre (y suegra) cariñosa para Martin, Tania y Chris, y una abuela "Ita" amorosa para Camila Fay. Esther era el alma de su familia. También fue una querida tía y tía abuela, cuya presencia constante, humor alegre y generoso amor enriquecieron la vida de sus numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y sus hijos. Tenía un corazón de guerrera, una mente creativa y brillante, y una risa y una sonrisa que inspiraban a todos a su alrededor.

Esther emigró a California a finales de los años 60 con su valiente madre y sus deslumbrantes hermanas, y construyó una vida maravillosa para ella, sus hijos y las futuras generaciones. Vivió con valentía, fortaleza y amor incondicional por sus hijos y su familia. Su ingenio agudo y su estilo sensato, basado en el amor y la risa, han dejado una huella imborrable en toda su familia, ahora y para siempre. La extrañaremos profundamente, la recordaremos profundamente y la apreciamos por siempre.
