Sam Smith Sr.

A public viewing will be held Wednesday at C.P. Bannon Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Burial service will be at Evergreen Cemetery 6450 Camden St., Friday, September 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM.

Sam was born in Delhi, Louisiana August 7, 1927. At the age of 13 he met Erma Jean Robinson and

later married her. Sam Jr. their first child was born in 1945.

Sam joined the Army was stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming during that time two more children was born Margaret and Larry. In 1950 Sam finished military service and moved to Ca.There he landed a career

job working for the Alameda Navel Air Station as an aircraft mechanic.

He purchased his first home in the Oakland hills where he retired from the Naval Air but maintained his new career as the neighborhood handyman where he was in high demand and very loved.

Sam is survived by his son, Sam Jr.,grandchildren Rahsaan and Khalid Smith, great-grandchildren

Rahsaan Smith Jr., Rashaan Smith and Asante Smith. Precede him in death his wife Erma. daughter

Margaret and his son Larry.
