

Victor was born on June 16, 1958 to the proud parents of Mr. Fields Nelson Sr. and Mrs. Pinkie Nelson.
A celebration of life for Mr. Victor Lee Nelson will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paradise Baptist Church, 9670 Empire Rd, Oakland, CA 94603.
The interment for Mr. Victor Lee Nelson will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Dr. in the city of Richmond, CA.
Victor Lee Nelson was born in Oakland, CA to Fields Nelson, Sr., and Pinkie Lee Nelson. Victor was the youngest of five children. Victor confessed Christ at an early age at Paradise Baptist Church under Pastor C. W. Johnson where he served as a Junior Deacon, Choir Member, Drummer and was active in Sunday School and Bible Study. Victor sang in the Honeybunch and Sugar-lump Choir, Mass Choir and Paradise Specials. Victor attended PBC’s summer camps at Lake Chabot and Redwood Glen. Later under Pastor Leon McDaniels, Sr. Victor served as Co-Chairman of the Deacons, Security Coordinator for the Annual C. W, Johnson Block Party and Minister of Music. Victor lived a life of service to others. Victor received his early childhood education at Dag Hammarskjold Elementary School and Madison Junior High School. He graduated from Castlemont High School where he honed his God given gift of singing in the world renowned Castleers under the directorship of the late Phillip Reeder. As a youth growing up in Columbia Gardens also known as “Dag” he could be found playing basketball at the school on the weekends. Victor attended Merritt College and San Francisco State University. Victor went on to sing in the Phil Reeder singers, the Chorus at UC Berkely’s Young Musicians Program and with Tim Poston’s Voices of Celebration. Victor had a keen eye for detecting and deterring retail theft, he worked as a Loss Prevention at Sears and Roebuck and later Loss Prevention Manager at Marina Square Nordstrom’s Rack. Victor found his passion as a Commercial Truck Driver, he loved being on the open road, he drove for Simmons Beauty-rest until his health prevented him from continuing. Victor enjoyed road trips to Las Vegas and the National Association of Music Merchants where he would be on the hunt for celebrities such as Sinbad, Black Violins, Jonathan Butler and many more. Victor was everyone’s brother, uncle, and friend. He loved being around people, it was not unusual for Victor to host a number of the brethren on the front porch of his home on any given day. Victor had a magnetic personality and was loved by all. No matter if it were at work, church or play if you had an encounter with Victor, he left a lasting footprint on every life he touched.
