Cathleen Ann Poland

Cathleen was born in 1946 at Fitkin Hospital in Neptune, NJ to Winifred & Norbert Romaine. She attended St Rose in Belmar and then Manasquan HS Class of 1964. She first married Paul Baskin which produced their daughter Theresa Ann, her only child. They divorced shortly after and Cathy married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Poland. They settled down in Neptune, where she created a welcoming space for everyone. Cathleen worked as custodian for Ocean Township Schools for 25 years. She also worked as a waitress for many years at Denny’s on Route 35 in Ocean.

Cathy and Bob retired to Florida in 2002 and they began taking care of homes in their community, from painting to pressure washing and many housesitting jobs for the part-time residents of the community. Cathy loved going to her Tuesday night Bingo games at the community center and their Monday night dinner groups. They would travel to many places in the central Florida area and loved their trips to Orlando twice a year.

Cathleen is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years Robert L.; daughter Theresa A Baskin of Jacksonville, Florida; step-daughter Stefanie Poland and granddaughter Emanuela Ippolito both of Forli, Italy; brothers in law David Poland, John and Raymond Clifton; sisters in law Deanna Gant, Sharon Van Brunt, Virdae Rich and Virginia Poland; many nieces & nephews and extended family and friends.

Cathleen was preceded in death by her mother and father Norbert and Winifred (Kimble) Romaine and her sister Norberta Beatty.

A small service will be held Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at 10am at Forest Lawn Memory Garden; 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala Florida. A celebration of her life will follow at her home in Spruce Creek Preserve. Arrangements are being handled by Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

The family of Cathleen wishes to thank Hospice of Marion County West team and her homehealth caretakers of the past seven months. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Marion County Florida.
