SUMMERFIELD, Fl. -- Charles J. Chatterton, age 92, of Summerfield, FL, previously of Quincy, MA, died peacefully at his home on December 20, 2017.
Beloved husband of Helen (Eckblom) Chatterton and loving father of his daughter Holly Roe of Abington, his son Wayne Chatterton and his daughter-in-law Mary Proulx of Medfield, and loving grandfather of four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Charles (“Charlie”) served as a radio operator on a LCI for the US Navy during World War II. After his service, he became a Local 25 Teamster until he retired and moved to Florida.
In retirement, Charlie and Helen enjoyed many travels in the United States and abroad. Charlie kept active, joining a computer club and a veterans club, and learned to play the organ.
They cherished their 65 years together and were often mistaken for newlyweds. Helen said their marriage just got sweeter with time.
Charlie enjoyed drinking his morning coffee. He loved to sing in the privacy of his home, and it gave him and those around him great pleasure. Charlie also loved computers, technology and cars. Family members and friends would often consult with Charlie before buying a new car, and he was a wealth of information on the relative merits of each choice.
His kindness, wit, and gentle humor will be missed by his family and friends.
Private family services.
